Stranger in a strange land

Do you think it's true that people are the same wherever you go?

Comments:
Cultures and lifestyles may vary greatly between one part of the globe and another, but no matter where you go, people are the same species. They are fundamentally the same, although you might presume otherwise on sight.

People are very different in different places. It's amazing to see all the different evolutions of mind that can come from the same animal.

People are different on the surface (culture, beliefs) but deep down we are the same because we all experience the same emotions: happiness, sadness, disappointment, curiosity...we all go through the same cycle of life too.

It is interesting to note that one can be deaf, yet easily speak with any other deaf person on the planet via sign language (or any other person that knows sign language.

It depends on what you mean by "same". Biologically of course yes. Culturally of course no. Now yes we all experience the same emotions, however, we express them differently, and we reach that emotion differently. A rough example, how do you orgasm? Now most of us just like the simple style of sex, however a masochist can only enjoy orgasm via pain......we are both experiencing pleasure, however its achievement was different. That example is not cultural, but the point is that even within a single culture we experience the world differently.

I have also been living outside of my own culture for about 5 years now in Asia. While I can see fundamental similarities that we share across cultures as well as all over lifeforms on earth and beyond (food, shelter and procreation), dreams, aspirations, perspectives, knowledge, use of knowledge etc. all change.

That is not completely true. I know there are different versions of sign language, depending where you live. For instance England has a different version than America. I don't know how many versions there are...but it depends on the region.

Depends on how deep you go. The deeper you go the more similarities there are.

Fundamentally the same. They laugh, they cry, feel happiness & sadness.
Their culture & religion are a difference that makes the difference. Those are the outside influences that make people what they appear to be. But its just that- what they appear to be.

Certainly NOT the same . and it is high time that people in this present , weirdly glib era stop saying "it's that way wherever you go". It's NOT that way wherever you go .

Most people are stupid, no matter where you go.
